          Not just another trail ride
     (A poem by Evelyn Edgett - 9/28/2014)

Just another trail ride
That’s what all the cowboys thought
A chance to ride the range
With the entry fee they bought

Everyone had a great time
Their steeds hoofs clopping through the green
None truly aware of the blessings
This leisurely ride would bring

To a child who suffers from cancer
Maybe leukemia or some other sort
Diseases that devastate families
And cut a young ones life short

Those fees will pay for treatments
For doctors who spend their lives
Fighting to save even one child
To give hope to husbands and wives

So next time you see that flier
Sayin’ it’s time to hit the St. Jude trail
Remember it ain’t just another trail ride
And if we join in the fight, cancer will fail
