Pastor Bobby Bowden - May 3,1948-January 31,2025
Bobby was Pastor and a founding member of Western Star Cowboy Church from April 2010 (when the church was founded), until his passing. He was a humble man and led many people to God. In February 2013 he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. His oncologist called Bobby the "miracle man" and those who knew him called him a "man of God". Bobby led a full life. He was a Green Beret in the Army Special Forces during the Vietnam era. He was a Pastor and bible study teacher at several different churches, an English and photography teacher, a Safety and Human Resource manager and he worked as a builder in home construction. He was an accomplished musician and songwriter. At the age of 16 he played and sang in the Grand Ole Opry. During his life he played various stringed instruments in several country western bands. And lastly since 2010 he led and played in the WSSC church band. He will be dearly missed.

Kenneth Goodwin-March 14, 1948-April 1,2011

Kenneth was a quiet, thoughtful man who had survived, all thanks and glory to God, from serious injuries in the past, which had in turn tempered him like the fire that tempers steel to make it stronger. He was stronger in the Lord who brought him through his trials. Here was a man who has been given the gift of carpentry which as we know was Jesus' original profession. Let's not forget his campfire cooking skills as well. We were fortunate to have Kenneth as one of our Elders and founding members. He was a fair and honest man who thought things through, and knew that he was fulfilling God's will for him to be here to help guide our Church in our goals and worship to God. (Note: We recently lost Kenneth due to severe complications of a stroke. However, we choose to leave his picture and bio as an Honorary founding member of the WSCC.)
Rusty Goodwin-June 21, 1951-September 25, 2011

Rusty was a man who was born maybe a little too late in history as he truly depicted and loved the old western ways. We saw "Mr. Elder" sitting by the Pastor on Thursday nights in his special chair at Bible study, and we all laughed and joked about it. But I would suggest to everyone that he picked that location so he didn't miss one single word that was being said. He was there to learn to be a better man and a better Elder through God's Word to help lead our church, and for that we are very thankful that God has put that on his heart. He had made a commitment and was working to fulfill that destiny God put on his heart. He loved his family, his horses and even old Spur (his dog). As we all know, he was gifted as one of the resident campfire cooks, and we got to share those good meals at our gatherings and overnight trail rides.-(Note: Rusty went to be with the Lord September 25, 2011 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. We choose to leave his picture and bio as an Honorary founding member of the WSCC.)
